Note a recurring theme in Seattle: green. The large black monolithic building on the left has some sort of greenery cascading along the edge of the roof on the bottom portion. Even better, check out the lawn-on-a-roof above.
The next several photos were taken from the observation deck of the Smith Tower. When it opened in 1914, it was tallest building in the world outside Manhattan, NY. It was built by a gun and typewriter tycoon named Cornelius Smith. The observation deck surrounds an interior made in China. The beautiful, hand-worked wood tile ceiling was constructed in China to the room's specifications, torn into a puzzle with each piece's position labeled, shipped to Seattle, and then carefully put back together. I have no pictures of the room itself and have no reason or excuse for such a laspe. The afternoon Teresa and were there, they were setting up for a wedding later in the evening.
